FORMER MUSSELSHELL COUNTY DEPUTY WALGREN SHAKES THE DUST FROM ROUNDUP OFF HIS FEET AND MOVES ON
  by MNA PRESS

Dear Montana News,

Thank you for inquiring about Officer Walgren.  It seems like things are going to work out for us here.  The new chief has alot of good ideas and is a nice man.

We were heartbroken to leave our friends in Roundup but as you can probably imagine Former Deputy Walgren could not end his distinguished 16 year career in the manner that it would more than likely have ended there.

What I find most sad is that the citizens of Musselshell county have no idea what REAL law enforcement is like.  They don't have any idea what to expect and yes, even DEMAND.  The vast majority of law enforcement officers in this country are selfless, devoted, honest men/women with integrity.  They don't do it for the money or the possible glory.  They don't do it for the power.  They go out every day and put their lives on the line for normal citizens, young, old, rich, poor, and no matter what race or color.  The current command staff of Musselshell County has no idea that law enforcement is a calling.  They treat it as a job, and a way to get away with what they want, all under the guise of "protecting and serving".  They abuse the badge in the most deplorable way.  Any law enforcement officers should be above reproach, and live their personal lives the same way.  All former deptartments that Officer Walgren has worked for have had their problems but nothing like the corruption that runs rampant in Musselshell County.  For example, no citizen of Musselshell County would have ever seen Former Deputy Walgren drinking and driving off duty (or on duty for that matter).  How can he expect to do that sort of thing and then arrest some citizen for it the next day.  How hypocritical!  This is just ONE of the problems with the current deputies in Musselshell County.

I dont' know if these problems will ever be resolved, the citizens will have to get outright MAD and demand the resignation of the commissioners, county attorney and run out a few of the corrupt business owners.  But the good citizens of Musselshell county FAR outweigh the bad.  There is power in numbers.  I hope to see them band together and CLEAN HOUSE!  Their children have the right to have law enforcement role models in their town.

On a personal note, even though I was saddened to leave our friends, I am PROUD to be married to the best officer who has ever come through Musselshell County.  He isn't famous, he isn't rich and he certainly isn't glamourous, but he is a hero.  He would have died protecting any citizen, that is dedication.  But what some dont' realize is that is what all good cops do.  Every day their lives are put on the line and they would not hesitate to step in and get the job done.  No matter what the sacrifice to themselves.  So even though his job is dangerous I wouldn't trade him for anyone with a "safer" job.  THIS kind of officer is what the citizens in every county deserve.  Most of them get it too.  Hopefully Musselshell County will experience this type of dedication from their law enfocement officers in the future.  Again they would have to clean house though and that means work.

Again, thank you for being concerned for Officer Walgren.  There are so many good people in Montana and that is why we chose this state.

Hannah Walgren
