SADDAM AND DEMOCRATS ON THE SAME PAGE

During the Iraqi trial of former President Saddam Hussein and his minions, the testimony by victims of the thuggish leader's regime is being drowned out in the news media by the antics of the defendants being tried for their lives. The horrors being detailed by witness after witness after witness are being bypassed, with the denizens of America's newsrooms concentrating on the juvenile antics of the once feared dictator and his deadly flunkies.
After complaining about being abused by his American captors -- a charge no doubt created with the help of his America-hating lawyer, Ramsey Clark -- Hussein characterized US leaders as liars. He screamed that the Bush White House had lied to the world about chemical and biological weapons to justify the US invasion of the his peaceful, innocent country.
He claimed that the White House lied again on Wednesday when it denied his claim he was tortured while in US military custody. He continued to make his torture allegation at Thursday's hearing, as well. Mixed in with his constant harping about Bush lying and soldiers beating him, Saddam accused soldiers of stealing his watch.
"The White House are liars," he told the judge and spectators. "They said Iraq had chemical weapons. They said we had biological weapons. And they stole my watch!"
Of course, Hussein did nothing to quell the suspicions of the US, the United Nations, France, Germany, Britain and other countries that he had chemical weapons, leading experts to believe either he thought he had them, or he had them and hid them in Syria or Iran prior to the invasion. General Tommy Franks found it peculiar that Saddam's military were issued protective gear should they become exposed to WMD. Surely they didn't believe American or British soldiers used WMD. The only people who'd believe that are -- well -- Democrats of the
Besides the White House calling Hussein's allegation preposterous, According to Reuters, Raed Jouhi, the Iraqi magistrate who brought the case against Saddam to court, said, "We didn't receive a single complaint of abuse from the defendants even when we asked them about their treatment. They have a constant power supply, hygiene and good food."
US officials have said people should concentrate on the lengthy and often harrowing testimony of the witnesses rather than the former president's headline-grabbing outbursts.
Then when the subject of the Abu Ghraib prison came up, witnesses described the horrific abuse and torture they and their children endured at the hands of Saddam's goons.
"The beating was continuous," one witness said. "They would take a group into the hallway, the guards would hit them with cables and ask the group to crawl. The women would watch this and scream because their kids were being hit."
This was far more horrifying than the activities the Democrats and their media lapdogs described during Abu Graib scandal in which soldiers made detainees wear panties on their heads or other humiliations. Personally, if this writer had a choice between being beaten, whipped, and having electrode attached to testicles; and being humiliated and degraded, you can dress me in Victoria's Secret to your heart's content. I'll even walk down the runway and model them for you.
At one point, people in a spectators gallery within courtroom chuckled loudly while Saddam was speaking. Hussein looked up, pointed his finger in their direction and said, "The lion does not care about a monkey laughing at him from a tree."
I guess Saddam believes he's the lion. In fact, Hussein's ranting is eerily reminiscent of another lion -- the Liberal Lion of the Democrat Party, Teddy "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy.
It is Senator Ted who is almost constantly labeling President Bush a liar. Remember his rant about Bush and his friends in Texas cooking up the war? Remember his "lie, after lie, after lie" rant?
Or Al Gore's rabid speech when he bellowed to the applause of his audience, "[Bush] betrayed this country! He played on our fears!"
As far as Saddam's allegations of being abused by American soldiers, that is quite reminiscent of Senator Dick Durbin's description of the US military and their detention facilities. Recall how Durbin compared US soldiers to Nazis, US facilities to gulags, and US operations to Pol Pot's Cambodian killing fields.
The latest bit of Democrat treachery appears to be Senator Jay "Loose Lips" Rockefeller. Rockefeller claims that he was repulsed by what he heard during White House intelligence briefings, especially the details he received about NSA spying.
When asked why he didn't complain sooner, Senator Rockefeller said he couldn't think of anything he could do. Hmmmm. So he couldn't talk to Bush or Cheney and tell them they were wrong? He couldn't go to his co-chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Republican Pat Roberts? Why didn't he go to Senator Harry Reid? Or Senator Bill Frist? If he had all these concerns, why was he so sheepish about confronting the White House when it counted, rather than silently waiting and then jumping in front of the TV cameras and radio microphones
of his friends in the news media? Perhaps he did take action -- perhaps he's the leaker. We need to get this guy sworn in, and have him testify in front of a grand jury.
Was it fear of the Bush Administration that prevented Rockefeller, of the good state of West Virginia, from voicing his complaint about the NSA operation? Can't be fear. Afterall, just before the Iraq invasion, Senator Rockefeller flew right into the belly of the Ba'ath Party beast -- Syria -- in order to warn them that Bush was preparing to attack Iraq. I'm still waiting for the investigation into what exactly he said to the Syrian thugs.
Back to Saddam, he is playing the "Bush lied" card probably at the behest of Ramsey Clark, who's often said the same thing from his office at his International Action Center, a group tied to communist and socialist organizations.
The Democrats, who see a strategy they believe will restore power to their party, make certain to call Bush and his staff liars, or some euphemism for liar, as often as possible. If you listen to them, they are telling the American people that Bush -- a dolt according to them -- conned them into voting for the war. Yes, this man who's dumber than dirt, conned them into war after stealing the election right out from under their noses.
And these Democrats want us to vote for them? They tell us they can't hold on to an election they won or that they were conned into going to war by a man they claim is an idiot, yet they want my vote? I don't think so.
Oh no, now Saddam's claiming his captors forced him to wear a woman's nightie and that Bush is spying on him without a warrant.
